Installation/Installazione

To install Postel ActiveX Control run SETUP.EXE on the first distribution diskette or on the CD-ROM or on the folder where you've downloaded and expanded the file Postel.ZIP.

The following files will be installed into your WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory (WINNT\SYSTEM32 on NT systems) only if their version number is higher:

Postel.ocx	This file contains the 32-bit OCX version of ActiveX control.
Postel.chm	Contains control's Html Help.
Asycfilt.dll	Microsoft OLE 2.40 for Windows NT™ and Windows 95™ Operating Systems
Stdole2.tlb	Microsoft OLE 2.40 for Windows NT™ and Windows 95™ Operating Systems
Oleaut32.dll	Microsoft OLE 2.40 for Windows NT™ and Windows 95™ Operating Systems
Olepro32.dll
Msvbvm60.dll	Visual Basic run-time dll.
Msstkprp.dll	Visual Basic property page dll.

The following files will be installed into the program directory specified during installation:

PostelManual.pdf	Contains control's user manual.
Sample	A directory containing the control's samples source code (VB 5.0/6.0) and executables.

Note: To remove Postel ActiveX Control from your system use Add/Remove Programs from the Windows Control Panel.

Installing Postel ActiveX Control in Visual Basic

To install and use Postel ActiveX Control in Visual Basic there are slight differences between these processes in Visual Basic 5 and Visual Basic 6, but they are largely superficial.

The figures that follow show dialogs and screens used to install Postel ActiveX Control in Visual Basic 5/6.

In Visual Basic 5/6, select the Components command from the Project menu. It will present the dialog shown in figure below.
Check the box next to the control you want to use and click the OK button. In the figure below the control "Kadmos Postel ActiveX Control" has been selected.

If the control does not appear in the list, click the Browse button and locate the Postel ActiveX control's .OCX file. Select the file and click OK.

At this point Visual Basic will add entries to your system registry so the control will be listed in the future.

After you have selected the control, it will appear in the toolbox along with Visual Basic's controls as showed in the figure below.

Registering Postel ActiveX Control

Registering Postel ActiveX Control is a very simple task. After purchasing the registration code invoke the about method clicking on the ellipses near the word "About" in the properties window (see figure below).

Next click on the Register... button in the About Box. It will show a dialog window for typing in the registration code.

Alternatively, you can click the Register... button on the control's properties window that appears pressing the right mouse button over the control and selecton the Properties command from the context menu.

Per installare Postel ActiveX Control basta eseguire il programma SETUP.EXE presente sul primo dischetto o nel CD-ROM o nella cartella dove è stato scaricato ed espanso il file Postel.ZIP.

I file seguenti verranno installati nella cartella WINDOWS\SYSTEM (WINNT\SYSTEM32 su sistemi NT ) solamente se il loro numero di versione è più elevato:

Nota: Per rimuovere Postel ActiveX Control dal sistema selezionare Installazione applicazioni dal pannello di controllo di Windows.

Installazione di Postel ActiveX Control in Visual Basic

In Visual Basic 5/6 selezionare il comando Componenti dal menu Progetto. Nella finestra di dialogo successiva selezionare il controllo Kadmos Postel ActiveX Control e cliccare sul tasto Ok.

Se il controllo non appare nella lista occorre cliccare sul tasto Sfoglia..., localizzare il controllo nella cartella Window/System, selezionare il file OCX ed infine cliccare sul tasto Ok.

Dopo queste operazioni il controllo apparirà nella casella degli strumenti per essere disponibile nelle proprie applicazioni.

Registrazione di Postel ActiveX Control

La registrazione di Postel ActiveX Control è estremamente semplice. Dopo avere acquistato il controllo e ricevuto il codice di registrazione, occorre richiamare il metodo "About" per visualizzare la finestra con le informazioni sul controllo.

Successivamente basta cliccare sul bottone Register... ed inserire il codice di registrazione.

Gli utenti regolarmente registrati, oltre a potere utilizzare legalmente il controllo nelle proprie applicazioni senza alcun limite, possono accedere alla Registered Users Area.
